San Jose Greek Festival

The San Jose Greek Festival began its humble roots in 1969 and originally took place at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. Inspired to share Greece’s rich history and culture, Father John Berris, the Proistamenos of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church at the time, gathered the parish of his church to invite people from all over the South Bay to experience being Greek for a day. Food was made, dances were performed, and music rang through the fairgrounds. They called it “A Real Greek Happening”. That was true then, and it is true to this day. Now the San Jose Greek Festival takes place at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, in the heart of the historical Rose Garden neighborhood.
