*The event has already taken place on this date: Sun, 10/15/2023
Come and see some amazing trains run across our 2,000sqft layout! From young to old everyone loves to see the different and unique trains that are on the railroad! From Thomas the Tank to Caltrain there is something for everyone to get excited about! October 14-15th 10am-4pm

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Welcome to October and the varied colors of Fall! The Carquinez Model Railroad Society is adding to the
color by featuring short line railroads for this month’s Open House. Short line railroads play an important role
bringing freight from local industries to the major railroads, and they do it in a variety colorful paint schemes!
So come to the Carquinez Model Railroad Society’s October 14-15 Open House and see a variety of colorful
short line freight cars from across the country in addition to our regular trains!
We’ll be open from 10 AM to 4 PM on both Saturday and Sunday October 14-15. We’re located at 645 Loring
Avenue in Crockett across from C&H Sugar. Admission is $5, with those under 16 free when accompanied by
an adult. Visit us on-line at www.cmrstrainclub.org.
Our 36' x 60' HO scale model railroad (on three levels!) depicts the Southern Pacific/Union Pacific railroad
from Oakland, across the Sierra Nevada mountains, to Sparks, NV. Our railroad allows you to walk alongside
the trains as they journey from Oakland, up through Berkeley and Richmond, over to Crockett and Martinez,
and across the bridge to Fairfield. From there, it’s a short trip up the stairs – the trains use a helix - to Davis,
and on to Sacramento and Colfax. From there you wind your way across the Sierras arriving in Sparks, NV.
Try our Scavenger Hunt – can you find all ten items as you walk along the railroad?
The trip is great, the scenery and detail are fantastic, our members are friendly, we’re happy to answer your
questions, and you only need to come to Crockett! Make a day of it and check out Crockett and enjoy lunch
at one of the restaurants. We’re looking forward to seeing you! And don’t forget to check out our Gift Shop!
Come and see what a great hobby model railroading is! It’s a fun and socially engaging endeavor. In addition
to running trains, it’s building models and creating your own world, with a whole other dimension simulating
real-life train operations! Think of it as a social multi-player role playing kinetic art form. We welcome new
members and offer Youth, Senior, and Family memberships. Ask a member for more information.
Membership has its rewards!
The Crockett Toy Train Operating Museum (CTTOM), a separate model railroad club upstairs will also be
open both days. They are focused on Lionel and other larger scale toy trains from the present and past.

Admission to CTTOM is $5, with those under 16 free when accompanied by an adult. You can visit them on-
line at www.cttom.org.

And if you can’t atten this Open House, our next Open House is on December 9-10. Next year’s Open
Houses will take place on February 10-11, April 13-14, June 22-23, August 24-25, September 14, October 26-
27, December 7-8.
We hope to see you on October 14th
and 15th!
